A Little About Myself

Updated: Nov 14, 2023

Hello!

My name is Michelle, the owner of MJ Interior KC. Let me tell you about myself. I graduated with an Interior Design degree in 2005, but took time off to be with my two amazing children. They have grown into teenagers, and refuse to spend every waking moment with me....which gives me plenty of time on my hands.

That brings me back to my love of interior design and art.

I am a born-and-raised Kansas Citian - although I did take a break and moved to New York City for a few years, pursuing minor dreams of mine and gaining amazing friendships and values from the East Coast. Then came back home and went to school for Interior Design and have enjoyed designing ever since.

Our city has such variety of beautiful art and design to learn from, as well as enjoy. Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, The Plaza, Union Station, and Power and Light just to name a few. This city has so many areas of beautiful art and design to learn from and enjoy. There are residential homes that are unique to our area and not found in other cities, such as the Shirtwaist house. There are neighborhoods that go from art deco, craftsman, midcentury modern and neoclassical, which are a timeless beauties in this area. All of these make our city unique, and so should the inside of each person's homes. The diversity in design and the people really are at the heart of this city.

We all need to have our unique personality flow through our home - and that is my favorite part about interior design.

On this site, my design blog will center around these concepts and more. Find it at https://www.mjinteriorkc.com/blog
